Franklin County is unique when it comes to the extraordinary number of wellness-promoting opportunities here. For the relatively small population, the region overflows with organic farms, farmers’ markets, food co-ops, health-related workshops and education, and alternative health practitioners of all kinds.
Franklin County is not unique, however, when it comes to healthdisparity. Our community health picture is comprised both of people in vibrant health; and also of people who are chronically sick, often discouraged about their health, and usually disempowered by the conventional healthcare system. This difference often corresponds to socioeconomic factors.
Peoples Medicine Project seeks to close the health disparity gap by acting as a bridge between the health-promoting offerings here in Franklin County, and the folks who need them most. Specifically, we seek to increase access to alternative and complimentary healing modalities.
